Cookies
What this site puts in your browser, when it goes there, and how to change your mind. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, nothing is stored for analytics until you allow it, as long as the banner can tell where you are; if it cannot, it treats you as outside those countries.
Where you choose
The cookie banner here is the one the rest of rencore.com shows, and every choice is made in it. It is shown to visitors in the European Economic Area (the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Elsewhere no banner appears and HubSpot treats consent as given, so everything described below as needing your consent runs from the first page, and Global Privacy Control is not applied by the banner. Where the banner is shown, you can reopen it at any time with Cookie Settings at the bottom of this page, then pick Cookies settings in the banner to see the categories; elsewhere there is no banner to reopen. Turning Analytics off takes effect at once, with no reload: PostHog stops, the rc_first_touch cookie is deleted, and Google Analytics goes back to running without cookies, though a _ga cookie it already set stays until it expires or you clear it. Marketing tags that already loaded during this visit keep running until you leave or reload the page, and are not loaded again.
What PostHog stores
PostHog is our product analytics. What it collects is visits to this site and clicks on it: the page address, and the text and target of whatever you click. It does not tell us which note you read, because every note on the feed sits behind a link that only changes the part of the address after the "#", and PostHog is set up to leave that part off.
PostHog starts only once you enable Analytics in the banner. From that point, and not before, it stores three things on releases.rencore.com:
- a cookie named
ph_…_posthog, holding a random id for this browser and the current session id; - entries in localStorage and sessionStorage under the same
ph_…_posthogname, which hold that same state; - a localStorage entry named
__ph_opt_in_out_…, which is PostHog's own record of your yes or no.
Turn Analytics off and the cookie and the stored state are deleted at once. Two things stay: the record of your no, which is what keeps PostHog from starting again, and an id for this tab in sessionStorage, which goes when you close the tab. And if you decline, here or elsewhere on rencore.com, while storage from an earlier visit is still sitting in your browser, this site deletes that too.
PostHog's cookie is set for releases.rencore.com alone, so it is not shared with the rest of rencore.com. The data goes to PostHog's EU cloud at eu.i.posthog.com. Rencore GmbH decides what is collected and PostHog processes it on our behalf, and the project is configured not to store your IP address. We do not record your screen or replay your session.
Google Analytics and our marketing tags
This site uses the same tracking as the rest of rencore.com, so a visit here and a visit there count as one visitor.
Google Analytics loads on every visit. Until you allow Analytics it sets no cookies: it only tells Google, without an id, that a page was viewed. Once you allow Analytics it sets its _ga cookies on rencore.com, shared by all of rencore.com's sites.
Once you allow Analytics, and not before you first interact with the page (a scroll, tap, click or key press) or leave it, Google Tag Manager loads. It holds the marketing tags rencore.com uses: Google Ads conversions and remarketing, and tags from Reddit, Capterra, RB2B, Lemlist and G2. They run only if you also allow Advertising. How Rencore uses the data is explained in the Rencore privacy notice.
With Analytics allowed we also keep a cookie named rc_first_touch on rencore.com for 90 days. It records how you first arrived: the campaign details in the address, the site that linked you here, the page you landed on and when. Turn Analytics off and it is deleted, along with HubSpot's tracking cookies.
If your browser has already answered
With Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control switched on, PostHog is never loaded: no library is fetched, no request is made and nothing is stored, whatever you pick in the banner. Your browser has answered on your behalf and that answer wins.
Global Privacy Control also reaches the banner, which declines every category for you: Google Analytics runs without cookies, the marketing tags are not loaded and no rc_first_touch cookie is written. Do Not Track reaches PostHog only; with just that switched on, Google Analytics, the marketing tags and HubSpot follow your choice in the banner.
The banner's own cookies
The banner comes from HubSpot, which we use across rencore.com. HubSpot sets cookies of its own, including the one that remembers your categories, and it counts visits for our marketing. If you are already known to rencore.com, because you filled in a form there for example, HubSpot links those visits to your contact record.
Your choice is stored once for the whole of rencore.com, so what you pick here applies there too, and what you picked there applies here. The banner's Cookies settings describes each category and links to HubSpot's own list of the cookies it sets, and the Rencore privacy notice explains how Rencore uses the data.
